In 2019 I was awarded the Nature Foundation of South Australia Artists’ Residency, spending time painting on the very remote property of Witchelina, a large tract of land owned by the Foundation and being rehabilitated from pasture to natural bushland and sandy desert country. I have developed a method of painting with oils on small timber boards, 25 x 25cm, while in the landscape, often traveling and camping, and storing these boards in a specially constructed box to dry over many days without damage. Many of the Witchelina pieces were painted in this manner, plein air.
